Abby Normal (A.K.A Emily Leslie Moran Hund) is a curious New England art cryptid weirdo nestled in some tucked away corner of Providence, Rhode Island. From modeling and teaching to fine art and jewelry crafting, Abby is always willing to get her hands dirty to create something beautiful, absurd, disgusting or absolutely horrifying. Kind of gothy, kind of punky, kind of “Thot”-tistic, kind of a psychology nerd, and kind of fetish freak; Abby always aims to please, exceed, and demolish expectations.

Originating from Bristol County, Massachusetts, Abby was raised in the epicenter of the Bridgewater Triangle. Growing up she was surrounded by brutally frigid winters, overgrown humid summers, local ghost stories, and the history of the oldest region of America. Both of Abby’s parents greatly inspired her creative perspectives through their passions for horror, sci-fi, fantasy, true crime, video games, DIY projects, education, technology and medicine.

As an oil painter, Abby Normal thematically and technically draws from the influences of John Singer Sargent, Casper David Fredrick, Andrew Wyeth, Zdzislaw Beksinski, Micheal Hussar and H.R. Giger. In tandem with her fine art practice, Abby will pour her expertise into her silversmithing, garment construction and non-traditional supports to combine commodities with fine art. Elevated dark, alternative couture and DIY fashion by designers such as Vivian Westwood, Alexander McQueen, Jeffery Campbell, John Willie, and Fecal Matter inform her creative decisions and process. Transforming trauma, loss, pain, heartbreak and suffering are integral to profound human growth, capacity to learn and harness higher creative means.
